Pink ruffled gown with bow - Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 collection

Pink ruffled gown with bow – Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 collection

For Gucci’s pre-fall 2017 collection, creative director Alessandro Michele once again delved into an eclectic and whimsical-filled journey. With over eighty looks in total, the lookbook was captured in Rome, Italy, at the Antica Libreria Cascianelli and the Antica Spezieria di Santa Maria della Scala. The first being an old bookstore and the latter being a 16th-century apothecary. There is no shortage of embellishments and pattern play. From black jaguars to rabbits to tigers, Michele showcased playful animal motifs.

For a touch of fantasy, the Italian designer even decorated pieces with dragons. Bows and florals adorned many styles ranging from dramatic gowns to skirt and jacket sets. For a touch of casual, the Gucci woman wears relaxed pajama silhouettes as well as leather jackets and casual t-shirts. Finishing the looks are embroidered boots and sparkling flats. Bags come in oversized totes as well as leather miniatures tied around the waist.

Gucci jewellery's new queen bee

Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele has always so effortlessly incorporated nature into his designs, from ready-to-wear, accessories, leathergoods and jewellery, with equal parts of fun and sophistication that is truly refreshing.

This year, he has introduced a bee motif, not only to the RTW collections and watches, but also to the new jewellery collection.

LMDM Bracelets PR LR Each piece is exquisitely crafted in Italy, 18kt yellow gold’s colour exalts the country's time-honoured goldsmith techniques, as grey diamonds are set in aged sterling silver for an intriguingly artistic combination.

Gucci Convertible Tote & Top Handle Duffle

gucci_convertible-tote-top-handle-duffleIt’s been a while since I covered any bags for the guys, so consider this post a double treat. From Gucci’s F/W14 collection comes not one, but two bags worth a closer look, one tall and slim that’s great for work and the other big and roomy good for everything from weekend jaunts overseas to a gym bag for all your workout gear.

First up, the Gucci Convertible Tote that measures 41 cm by 45 cm in height, the leather bag is quite the minimalist dream with nary a monogram in sight; instead all you’re greeted with is grained leather that’s both supple and sturdy, topped off simply with another icon of the Italian house, a pair of blackened bamboo handles. Carry it handheld, sling it over your shoulder or just fold it over and use it as a clutch (shown), this is one bag that’s as versatile as it gets.

Next we’ve got the Gucci Top Handle Duffle, which is as ginormous as it gets as far as holdalls/weekenders are concerned. Spanning a good 66 cm across by 47 cm tall, the grained leather bag’s design is also deceptively simple. Built with a pair of top handles that can be adjusted up to 5 different lengths, there isn’t a zip on top nor are there buttons or clasps. You simply fold down the flap to ‘close’ it, and do the reverse to ‘open’ it, allowing for quick and easy access.

Available in muted pastel tones, you’ll find both bags online via Mr Porter where they retail for GBP2167 each. Yes, you read that right; they are priced exactly the same. The only downside? They only come in Brown. Which leaves just Gucci boutiques in Singapore where you’ll find them in a wider array of hues.

Gucci (2)
Gucci has chosen Westminster Abbey to showcase their next Cruise collection fashion show. The decision may be a head scratcher for some, but truth be told, the building has a long history of stylish moments (the Queen’s coronation in 1953, and more recently the chic wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge), so it’s no surprise that Gucci selected this historic building to host their anticipated show. This will be the first time that any fashion brand has held a show at Westminster Abbey.

The show is all set to take place in the Abbey’s Cloisters on 2nd June this year and will be a showcase for new designs by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. He told the Telegraph that the idea of showing at the Abbey was magical. “London is always on my mind and in my memories. I’m obsessed with British culture, past and present. To be able to show the collection inside the Cloisters in Westminster Abbey …” Michele said.

Gucci To Launch Dionysus City Bags Dedicated to 8 Cities

With the landing of Alessandro Michele down at Gucci, the aesthetics of the luxury fashion house has changed immensely in somewhat positive, eccentric way. It seemed that sexy, bohemian or fairy girl could not have any other new competitors, but Alessandro Michele’s nerdy girl came as if a fresh breeze to prove all and sundry that there is still much undiscovered. Nerdy girl was not the only novelty brought forward by the extravagant Italian designer. A new variation of GG Supreme Canvas bag was originated getting the appellation of Gucci Dionysus bag with two-layered chain adjustable strap and a double tiger head closure as a reference to the Greek God Dionysus, who crossed the River Tigris on a large tiger. And now that the holiday season is under way Gucci is dropping a bombshell by the forthcoming launch of the iconic Gucci Dionysus City bags dedicated to 8 cities, those megalopolises, where the life brims over the edge.

Gucci To Launch Dionysus City Bags

Come January the eight Gucci flagship stores located in Rome, New York, London, Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Dubai will sell exclusive Dionysus bags varying in design from city to city. The Londoners are undeniably to be tickled pink by Dionysus bag decorated with a snake, roses and a butterfly, the New York streets will be teeming with Dionysus bags featuring a pair of lips, hearts and pink lightning bolts, while for Dubai Alessandro Michele has concocted bags embellished with a starfish and dragonflies. On the other hand, Tokyo ladies will be treated to iconic Dionysus bags adorned with soft pink flowers and green lightning bolts.

When looking inside the bags, one will find the same leather patch with a bee motif on which the name of the city is printed. Along with it, the patches are different in colors: Tokyo’s is pink, Rome’s is teal, Dubai’s is green, Hong Kong’s is burgundy, Paris’s is white, New York’s is bougainvillea, Shanghai’s is red, and London’s is blue. It is worth mentioning that earlier this month Gucci launched a Dionysus City bag dedicated to its motherland city Milan trimmed with a red snake, flowers and a honey bee collecting nectar from the flower, while the inside bee patch is in dark orange shade.

Gucci is still staying hush-hush about the prices of the Dionysus City Bags, but taking into account the price of regular Dionysus bag being somewhat between $2,250 and $2,598 and the fact that the collection will be limited edition, we can guess that the Gucci Dionysus City bags will retail at something around $3000 or more. Make sure you also get your favorite Gucci bag on or Net-a-Porter!
